Did someone say complete and utter self-parody? Sorry Matt Bellamy, but I already cut cheese out of my diet.
I loved Muse up to and including Black Holes and Revelations, but their predilection for absurdity finally swallowed them whole with The Resistance. This is even worse - sonically okay, but Bellamy just cannot write love songs without resorting to sincerity-killing lyrics like “I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart”. Try that as pillow talk.
The one exception being Soaked, which he wrote for Adam Lambert… who, thank god, knows the difference between hammy and passionate singing.
(…okay, Starlight was a great song too.)
